Job Description

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a low-cost housing development in Pietermaritzburg can keep building. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a low-cost housing development on the Pietermaritzburg side of KwaZulu-Natal. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

What you'll actually do

Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed
Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer
Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
Clear rubble and load it into skips

Must-haves

Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Willing to start early, often at 06:30
Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Prepared to travel between sites in the area

Helpful, not essential

Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
