Job Description

This retail and commercial builder in Alberton needs someone who can read the drawings and get a building out of the ground. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Alberton, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

What your day looks like

Check reinforcing, shuttering and cover blocks before calling for a pour inspection
Coordinate subcontractors for plumbing, electrical, roofing and glazing
Order concrete, bricks and steel on time so gangs never stand idle
Chair the weekly site meeting and record actions for the principal agent
Run toolbox talks and support the safety officer on Construction Regulations compliance

You'll need

Good with MS Project or a similar programme tool
Working knowledge of the Construction Regulations 2014 under the OHS Act
You can read architectural and structural drawings and pick up clashes
National Diploma or BTech in Building or Civil Engineering, or a trade background with site experience
Firm with labour, fair with subcontractors
At least 5 years on building or civil sites, 2 of them in a supervisory post

Extra points for

Worked on CIDB grade 6 or higher projects
SACPCMP registration as a Construction Manager or Candidate
Concrete technology short course
