Cost Estimator (Shopfitting)

You'll measure, price and manage the money on building projects for the shopfitting company in Midrand. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

This post is Midrand-based, with most of your time spent at a shopfitting company.

• Price tenders using supplier quotes, labour rates and plant costs
• Track budget against actual cost and flag overruns early
• Get quotes from subcontractors and compare them line by line
• Prepare the final account at the end of the project
• Draft subcontract agreements and payment schedules

• BSc, BTech or Diploma in Quantity Surveying
• At least 3 years of QS work in private practice or with a contractor
• Understanding of JBCC Principal Building Agreement clauses
• Accurate with numbers and able to back up every figure you certify
• Strong Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables

• Study support for an honours degree
• Paid SACQSP registration fees and CPD courses
• Travel allowance for site visits

• Recruiters often give a short take-off test. Practise measuring a simple house plan under time pressure before the interview.
