Continuous Miner Operator (Coal)

Big machines, long shifts, good pay: the open-pit manganese mine near Phalaborwa needs qualified operators. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Phalaborwa, Limpopo. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Respect the collision avoidance system warnings and park-up rules
• Haul ore and waste on the haul road loop to the crusher or dump
• Drill blast holes to the plan depth and angle marked by the survey team
• Refuel and wash the machine at the end of your shift where required
• Load, haul and tip with the LHD from draw points to the ore pass

• At least 2 years operating the machine in a mining environment
• Code 10 or Code 14 driver's licence
• Valid operator certificate for the specific machine, from an MQA-accredited provider
• Able to work 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night roster
• Certificate of fitness from a mine medical practitioner
• Clear understanding of the TMM regulations under Chapter 8 of the MHSA regulations

• Experience with ultra-class haul trucks
• Certificates on two or more machine types

• Put your operator certificate expiry dates on the CV. Expired tickets are the top reason operators get filtered out.
