Data Scientist (Customer Analytics)

Build the SQL, models and dashboards that run the weekly meeting at a short-term insurer in George. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

The site is in George; early starts mean public transport timing matters, so check your route before applying. Overtime comes up in peak season and is paid.

• Meet business users to turn their questions into report requirements
• Present findings to managers in plain language with clear charts
• Check data quality and trace odd numbers back to the source
• Build simple forecasting and segmentation models in Python or R
• Automate weekly reports that used to take hours in Excel
• Mask or remove personal information in data sets under POPIA
• Write SQL to pull, join and clean data from several sources

• Strong SQL, including joins, window functions and CTEs
• Hands-on Power BI, Tableau or a similar tool
• Advanced Excel
• Able to explain what the numbers mean, not just show them
• At least 2 years in a data or reporting role (not needed for graduate posts)

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake or Fabric
• Python with pandas for data wrangling

• Paid cloud and BI certifications
• Hybrid work with two office days
• Latest laptop with extra screen
