Job Description

This municipal accounts office in Tembisa needs a calm negotiator who can hear "no" without giving up. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Location: Tembisa, Gauteng. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

The work, day to day

Record reasons for non-payment so the credit team can adjust policy.
Hand accounts over for legal action once internal steps are exhausted.
Answer disputes about balances, interest and fees with a printed statement.
Keep calls within the National Credit Act and the Debt Collectors Act rules.
Report daily on rands collected, contacts made and arrangements set.

What you need

Matric
Clear credit and criminal record
Target-driven and comfortable with commission
Registered, or willing to register, with the Council for Debt Collectors
Good with numbers, dates and payment calculations

Extra points for

Experience on a collections system such as Debtmaster or a dialler platform
Legal collections or attorney-firm background
