Debtors Clerk (Radiology Practice)

You'll keep the front of a radiology group in Pietermaritzburg organised so the doctors can focus on patients. If you like clear targets and knowing where you stand, this is for you.

You'll report in Pietermaritzburg. Relocation is not covered for this one. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Submit claims electronically and work through the rejection report daily
• Chase short payments with medical schemes and patients
• Code consultations and procedures with ICD-10 and CCSA or NHRPL tariffs
• Open patient files and capture consent forms in line with POPIA
• Send monthly statements and age the debtors book
• Answer the phones and send clinical questions to the right nurse or doctor
• Keep patient records locked and share them only with written consent

• Matric
• Experience on a practice system such as GoodX, Elixir, Medinol or Healthbridge
• Confident with Excel and email
• You keep patient information private, every time
• Sound knowledge of ICD-10 coding and medical aid tariff codes
• At least 2 years in a medical practice, hospital or billing bureau

• Bookkeeping basics or Pastel knowledge for practice accounts
• Experience with hospital case management and pre-auth
• Understanding of how HPCSA practitioner and BHF practice numbers are used on claims

• Name the billing software you know in your CV headline; practices want someone who needs no system training.
• Give numbers if you can, such as your rejection rate or how much you cut the 90-day debtors.
