Diesel Fitter (Forklift Fleet)

The earthmoving plant hire company in Sasolburg needs a trade-tested diesel mechanic for workshop and field work. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Sasolburg, Free State, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Carry out pre-roadworthy checks before the vehicle goes for COF testing
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage

• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Diesel mechanic trade test certificate
• Code 14 licence so you can move and test trucks
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs
• At least 3 years on heavy commercial vehicles or plant

• Hydraulic systems training
• Auto electrical skills

• Heavy-duty tools supplied by the workshop
• Overtime available most weeks
