Truck Mechanic (Fleet Workshop)

Every hour a truck stands still costs money. This long-distance trucking fleet in Bloemfontein needs a mechanic who can fix it quickly. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

• Inspect tyres, fifth wheels and kingpins for wear and damage
• Diagnose electronic engine faults with a heavy-duty diagnostic laptop
• Service trucks and trailers on the planned maintenance schedule
• Repair hydraulics on tippers, cranes and tail-lifts
• Repair gearboxes, differentials and clutches on heavy vehicles
• Record parts used and hours worked on the fleet system
• Overhaul brake systems, including air valves, chambers and slack adjusters

• Experience with electronic diagnostics on modern diesel engines
• Willing to do standby and roadside call-outs
• Solid understanding of air brake systems
• Physically fit for work under trucks and on pits
