Dispatch Assistant (Building Materials) – Entry Level

Trucks come in heavy and leave loaded at this furniture retailer warehouse in Epping, and you move the stock in between. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

You'll be based at a furniture retailer warehouse in Epping. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Get proof-of-delivery notes signed and stamped at each drop
• Strap and secure loads so nothing shifts in transit
• Load trucks from the load sheet in drop order, last stop first
• Offload containers by hand, counting cartons as they come off
• Assemble or place furniture where the customer asks
• Stack returns and empties neatly for the next count

• Honest; you will be handling customer goods and cash-on-delivery slips
• Friendly with customers at the door
• No criminal record
• Able to lift and carry heavy items all day
• Grade 9 or higher and able to read a delivery note

• Speaking more than one local language for customer drops
• Past work as a driver's assistant

• Help to get your own licence through the company later
• Uniform and safety shoes provided
• Route-completion incentives in busy months

• Say what hours you can start. Loading bays often hire the person who can be there at 04:00 without fail.
• If you are learning to drive, mention it. Depots like to grow assistants into drivers.
