ECD Practitioner (Toddler Class)

You'll care for and teach young children at a primary school aftercare programme in Welkom, from nappies to first letters. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

This post is in Welkom (Free State). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Plan themes and holiday programmes with the principal
• Help aftercare learners with homework and reading
• Set up daily learning areas for art, blocks, reading and fantasy play
• Prepare simple, nutritious snacks and keep the kitchen hygienic
• Observe each child and note milestones in their development file
• Watch children closely outside and keep the play area safe
• Clean and sanitise toys, mats and tables at the end of the day

• Paediatric first aid certificate
• Warm, patient and energetic with small children
• Able to follow hygiene and safety routines without cutting corners
• Experience caring for children in a group setting, even as a volunteer
• Matric
• Clear Form 30 child protection check and police clearance

• Experience with children with special needs
• Basic music, art or movement skills for group activities
