Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services)

The electrical consulting engineering firm in Secunda needs an electrical engineer for projects that go from design to commissioning. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in Secunda, Mpumalanga, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Plan maintenance for switchgear, transformers and motor control centres
• Guide technicians and contractors on site during commissioning
• Size cables, transformers and protection using design software
• Investigate power quality problems with a power analyser
• Design solar PV and battery systems and handle grid connection to NRS 097
• Draw up tender specifications and bills of quantities for electrical works
• Set and test protection relays and keep settings records

• BEng or BSc Eng in Electrical Engineering, or a BTech or Advanced Diploma for technologist posts
• ECSA registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng or Candidate
• Experience with at least one power system or lighting design package
• Able to write clear technical reports and specifications
