Electrician's Assistant (House Wiring) – Entry Level

Hard outdoor work on a road rehabilitation project in eMalahleni, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: eMalahleni, Mpumalanga. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Erect and strip shutters and simple scaffolding under supervision
• Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes
• Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
• Clear rubble and load it into skips
• Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
• Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
• Mix concrete and mortar by hand or with a small mixer

• Grade 8 or higher
• Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
• You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
• Prepared to travel between sites in the area
• Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
• A clean record is preferred for some government sites

• A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
• Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database
• Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)

• Paid weekly or fortnightly
• Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
• Learn from artisans with a chance to move up to assistant
• Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days

• If a foreman can vouch for you, put their number on your CV. Site hiring runs on word of mouth.
• List past sites by name and what you did there, like "mixed concrete, laid kerbs". It proves you have done real site work.
