Employee Relations Advisor (Unionised Site)

You'll handle the full HR cycle for a private hospital in Sandton, from hiring to hearings. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a private hospital in Sandton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Advise line managers on the Labour Relations Act and the BCEA.
• Coordinate training and submit SETA grant claims on time.
• Update HR policies when labour law changes.
• Compile the Employment Equity report and the Workplace Skills Plan.
• Chair or initiate disciplinary hearings and write up the outcome.

• CCMA experience, at least at conciliation
• Valid driver's licence for multi-site roles
• At least 3 years as an HR officer or generalist
• Good report writing and Excel
• Solid working knowledge of the LRA, BCEA and EEA
• Confident facilitating hard conversations with managers and unions

• SABPP registration
• Skills development facilitator (SDF) training

• Medical aid and provident fund contributions
• Company car or travel allowance for site visits

• CPD and SABPP fees paid

• Prepare for a case-study question on dismissing an employee fairly, and walk through procedure and substance.
• Quantify your IR work: how many hearings, CCMA cases and outcomes; that is what HR managers check first.
