Factory Hand (Bottling Plant)

You'll keep the line running at a plastic moulding plant in Bellville, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is Bellville-based, with most of your time spent at a plastic moulding plant. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card

• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area

• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
