Machine Assistant (Plastics Moulding) – Fixed-Term

Good factory hands stay for years, and this meat processing plant in Montague Gardens trains from day one. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

The work is in Montague Gardens, Western Cape, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe
• Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product

• Able to stand for a full shift in a noisy, warm area
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start

• NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
• Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
• Experience assisting on a packaging or filling machine

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Path to machine operator after six months
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Company transport on some night shifts

• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
