Job Description

Good factory hands stay for years, and this furniture assembly factory in Midrand trains from day one. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

  • Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
  • Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers

What you need

  • Available for rotating day and night shifts
  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage

Extra points for

  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
  • Some basic first-aid training
  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed

What's in it for you

  • Company transport on some night shifts
  • Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
  • Path to machine operator after six months

Applying, step by step

  1. Check you meet the must-haves first; recruiters filter on those before anything else.
  2. Keep copies of these ready to send: CV listing any factory or packing work, even short-term, food handler or HACCP certificate if you have one plus ID copy, certified within the last three months.
  3. Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
  4. Keep your phone on. Shortlisted applicants are contacted by call, SMS or WhatsApp within 10 working days.

Tips to get shortlisted

  • Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
  • Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
