Job Description

You'll run your own files from instruction to judgment at a boutique labour law practice in Komani. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

Home base is a boutique labour law practice on the Komani side of Eastern Cape. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

The work, day to day

Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
Brief counsel and prepare them for trial and opposed motions
Manage a portfolio of litigation or advisory matters on your own
Review company processes for POPIA and privacy compliance
Track legislation changes that affect clients' businesses
Keep trust account instructions and fee notes accurate
Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements

You'll need

Sound judgement under deadline pressure
Enrolled with the Legal Practice Council and holding a current Fidelity Fund certificate if you handle trust money
Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
At least 2 years of post-admission experience in the relevant field
LLB and admission as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa

Nice if you have

Experience on bank or insurer panels
Certificate in data protection or compliance
