Job Description

Winter fire season is near, and a pine plantation near Umlazi needs crews ready. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

This post is in Umlazi (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What you'll actually do

Sharpen and service chainsaws daily
Fell, debranch and cross-cut trees with a chainsaw
Clear and maintain firebreaks during the dry season
Prune lower branches with pruning saws and ladders
Plant seedlings in prepared pits at the right spacing

You'll need

Valid ID
Able to work in a crew and follow the crew leader
Willing to work in remote areas
Passes the medical check for fire crews
