Job Description

Write clean code, review pull requests and fix what breaks at a software development house in Kathu. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a software development house in Kathu. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

What you'll actually do

Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab
Write, test and refactor code in your team's main language
Build and consume REST or GraphQL APIs
Review teammates' pull requests with useful comments
Design database tables and write efficient SQL queries
Write unit and integration tests before you merge

You'll need

Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Experience writing automated tests
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
Stable internet and a quiet workspace for remote days
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build

Helpful, not essential

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Cloud certification on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
Knowledge of secure coding and the OWASP Top 10
