Job Description

An insurance company software team in Mossel Bay needs a developer who can take a ticket from idea to production. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is an insurance company software team on the Mossel Bay side of Western Cape. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

Handle personal data safely, with POPIA rules in mind
Document how your features work for support and new developers
Write unit and integration tests before you merge
Investigate production bugs using logs and monitoring dashboards
Join daily stand-ups and sprint planning
Deploy through a CI/CD pipeline on Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or GitLab

You'll need

Experience writing automated tests
Commercial experience in at least one of PHP, C#, Java, Python or JavaScript
A computer science or IT qualification, or a portfolio that proves you can build
Solid Git habits: branches, pull requests and meaningful commit messages
Good SQL and understanding of relational databases
You can explain technical choices to non-technical people

Extra points for

Docker and Kubernetes experience
Experience in regulated sectors such as banking or medical schemes
