Gate Security Officer (Residential Estate) – Experienced

Residents and staff at a construction yard in Welkom need to feel safe when they arrive; that is your job. It's the kind of job where doing the basics well every day gets you noticed.

Home base is a construction yard on the Welkom side of Free State. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer
• Check visitors' IDs and capture them on the visitor app or in the gate register

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Clean criminal record
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Physically fit for foot patrols
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends

• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols
• First-aid Level 1 certificate

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
