Job Description

You'll design and supervise infrastructure people use every day, with the civil engineering consultancy in Midrand. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room, just the one others can count on.

This post is Midrand-based, with most of your time spent at a civil engineering consultancy.

What your day looks like

Prepare tender documents under GCC 2015 or NEC contracts
Chair site meetings and handle contractor queries
Apply for municipal wayleaves and building plan approvals
Review geotechnical reports and choose suitable foundations
Design reinforced concrete and steel structures to SANS 10100 and SANS 10162
Act as resident engineer: inspect works, measure quantities and certify payments

What you need

Code 08 licence and willingness to spend time on site
At least 3 years in design or construction supervision
BEng, BSc Eng or BTech in Civil Engineering
Experience with structural or hydraulic design software
Registered with ECSA as a professional or candidate
Able to explain technical issues to clients and contractors

Extra points for

Master's degree in structural or water engineering
Experience on public sector infrastructure projects
