Junior Tax Clerk (Tax Season Contract) – Entry Level

You'll keep clients in good standing with SARS at a small tax practice in eMalahleni. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

Home base is a small tax practice on the eMalahleni side of Mpumalanga.

• Respond to SARS verification letters and upload documents on time
• Calculate IRP6 provisional tax for individuals and companies
• Apply for tax clearance and tax compliance status PINs
• Prepare and submit ITR12, ITR14 and ITR12T returns on SARS eFiling
• Keep client tax files complete for five years
• Advise on deductions such as retirement contributions and home office claims

• Neat, careful and organised with client documents
• At least 2 years of SARS eFiling experience
• Degree or diploma in accounting or tax
• Working knowledge of the Income Tax Act and VAT Act
• Registered tax practitioner with a recognised controlling body such as SAIT or SAIPA

• Experience with trusts, estates and capital gains tax
• Postgraduate diploma in tax
• Tax software experience such as TaxShop or CaseWare

• Paid controlling body subscription
• Bonus at the end of filing season
• Flexible hours outside filing season

• Make sure your own tax affairs are up to date, as some firms check your compliance status before they appoint.
• List your tax practitioner number and controlling body in the first line of your CV.
