Legal Counsel (Compliance and POPIA)

A mid-sized commercial law firm in Centurion needs an attorney who can draft, advise and stand up in court. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

Home base is a mid-sized commercial law firm on the Centurion side of Gauteng. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Keep trust account instructions and fee notes accurate
• Manage a portfolio of litigation or advisory matters on your own
• Record billable time and hit the monthly target
• Draft and review contracts, shareholder agreements and legal opinions
• Negotiate settlements and draft settlement agreements

• Right of appearance in the High Court for litigation posts
• Able to manage client relationships without a senior in the room
• Sound judgement under deadline pressure
• Enrolled with the Legal Practice Council and holding a current Fidelity Fund certificate if you handle trust money

• LLM or postgraduate certificate in your specialist area
• Experience on bank or insurer panels

• Paid LPC fees and CPD
• Annual bonus linked to billing
• Medical aid and retirement fund
• Clear path to directorship at some firms
