Livestock Handler (Cattle Feedlot) – Experienced

Healthy animals mean a healthy farm; on a piggery near Gqeberha, you keep them that way. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

You'll be based at a piggery in Gqeberha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Keep water troughs and drinkers working
• Record births, deaths and treatments in the herd book
• Follow biosecurity rules like foot baths and clean overalls
• Collect eggs or check broiler house temperatures
• Milk cows in the parlour following the milking routine
• Move animals between camps or pens calmly
• Feed animals the right ration at the right time

• Comfortable around large animals
• Willing to work early mornings, weekends and public holidays on rotation
• Able to live on the farm or close by
• South African ID or a legal work permit

• Animal health or AgriSETA short course
• Previous dairy or livestock experience
• Basic farm maintenance skills

• Training in animal health
• Milk or meat rations
• Production bonus on milk yield or growth targets

• Stress reliability. Explain that you understand milking or feeding cannot be skipped.
• For foreman roles, mention how many workers you supervised and what you were in charge of.
