Job Description

Blend in, watch closely and act lawfully: that is loss prevention at an electronics store in Kariega. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Kariega-based, with most of your time spent at an electronics store. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What your day looks like

Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
Tag high-value stock and check security tags at the doors

What you need

Available for retail hours including month-end weekends
Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
PSIRA registration, Grade C at least
Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
Discreet, observant and honest
Good report writing

Extra points for

Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
Experience giving evidence in court
