Access Control Officer (Grade C) – Fixed-Term

You'll control who comes in and out of an industrial park in East London, and log every visitor properly. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at an industrial park in East London. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Search vehicles and bags leaving the site when company policy requires it

• Speaks and writes basic English
• Grade 10 minimum; matric preferred
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Alert, polite and firm with the public

• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Stable long-term site contracts
• Provident fund contributions

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Arrive for the interview in neat clothes with your certificates in a plastic sleeve. It shows the discipline they want.
