Night Shift Security Officer (Grade D)

The gate at a construction yard in Gqeberha is the first line of safety, and you would be standing at it. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

Home base is a construction yard on the Gqeberha side of Eastern Cape.

• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Hand out and collect contractor access cards
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Keep the guardhouse clean and the OB up to date for the relieving officer

• Physically fit for foot patrols
• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Clean criminal record
• Speaks and writes basic English

• Firefighting or evacuation training
• A Code 8 licence for vehicle patrols

• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued
• Paid night-shift allowance under the security sector rules
• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
