Job Description

You'll catch shoplifting and stock losses at a building-supplies store in Richards Bay before they cost jobs. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Location: Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

The work, day to day

Check receiving bay deliveries against invoices and seal numbers
Detain suspects lawfully and call SAPS, then write a statement
Attend court as a witness when a case goes to trial
Search staff bags at exit points according to store policy
Walk the floor in plain clothes and watch for shoplifting behaviour
Record every incident with photos, times and value of goods
Review CCTV footage to confirm suspected theft

You'll need

Knowledge of lawful arrest and search under the Criminal Procedure Act
Able to handle confrontation calmly
Discreet, observant and honest
Matric or equivalent NQF Level 4
Good report writing
PSIRA registration, Grade C at least

Nice if you have

Understanding of stock systems and shrinkage reports
Previous store detective experience with case outcomes
