Machine Assistant (Plastics Moulding)

You'll keep the line running at a soft drink bottling plant in Khayelitsha, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. Good for someone who wants to build a solid track record they can put on their CV.

You'll report in Khayelitsha. Relocation is not covered for this one. Start date: as soon as possible for the right person.

• Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Check product for size, weight and seal faults and pull out rejects
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages

• Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• Basic reading and counting for batch sheets

• Staff shop with discounted factory products
• Free PPE, overalls and hairnets
• Company transport on some night shifts
• Path to machine operator after six months

• Do not wear jewellery or long nails to the interview if it is on site. Food factories notice and it counts.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
