Maintenance Electrician (Night Shift) – Immediate Start

This is hands-on electrical work in Sandton: new installs, repairs and CoCs that pass the first time. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a residential electrical contractor in Sandton. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Terminate armoured cable and fit glands on three-phase motor supplies
• Quote small jobs for clients and explain the fault in plain language
• Complete job cards, material lists and test reports at the end of each job
• Supervise and teach an electrical assistant or apprentice on site
• Run conduit, trunking and cable tray on new builds and renovations

• Electrical trade test certificate (Section 13 or 26D) through a QCTO-accredited centre
• Your own basic hand tools and a calibrated multimeter
• Clean criminal record, since you will work inside client homes
• At least 3 years working as a qualified electrician after your trade test

• Master Installation Electrician registration for three-phase CoCs
• N3 electrical trade theory on top of your trade test

• Standby allowance when you are on the after-hours roster
• Provident fund and group risk cover after probation
• Company-issued test instruments, calibrated every year

• List two or three recent jobs with sizes, like a 60-point house rewire or a 10 kVA inverter install. It shows your level quickly.
• Many applicants forget to attach the trade test certificate itself. Recruiters often skip CVs that only mention it.
