Maintenance Fitter (Food Factory)

You'll keep machines turning and parts in spec at the packaging manufacturer in Krugersdorp. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

Home base is a packaging manufacturer on the Krugersdorp side of Gauteng. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Machine shafts, bushes and keyways on a lathe and milling machine
• Build and repair press tools, jigs and moulds
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Replace bearings, seals and couplings on pumps, gearboxes and motors

• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• You read engineering drawings and measure with micrometers and verniers
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• Basic understanding of the General Machinery Regulations
• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop

• Chance to study further toward a technician diploma
• Tool allowance
• Paid overtime on shutdowns

• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
