Mall Control Room Operator

Night or day, an armed response control room in Epping never switches off, and neither does your focus on shift. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

You'll be based at an armed response control room in Epping. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Report camera faults and offline sites to the technicians
• Monitor live CCTV feeds and zoom in on suspicious movement
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Hand over open incidents clearly at shift change
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio

• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Matric
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Clear speaking voice on radio and phone

• Speaking more than one local language
• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform

• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment
• Training on the monitoring software
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Shift allowance for nights

• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
