Management Accountant (Retail Group)

A national retail chain head office in Johannesburg CBD needs an accountant who can close fast and explain the variances. People who do well here are steady, honest and not scared to ask when something is unclear.

The work is in Johannesburg CBD, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

• Run the month-end close and prepare the trial balance
• Calculate provisional tax and check the VAT201 before submission
• Prepare the audit file and answer auditor queries
• Draft annual financial statements under IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• Maintain the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules
• Improve controls, such as segregation of duties on supplier changes
• Run cash flow forecasts and manage the weekly payment run

• Experience on an ERP such as Sage X3, Sage 300, Syspro or SAP Business One
• Understanding of South African income tax and VAT
• You meet month-end deadlines without being chased
• Working knowledge of IFRS or IFRS for SMEs
• At least 3 years of post-qualification accounting experience

• Consolidation experience across several companies
• CIMA qualification for management accounting posts
• CA(SA) with SAICA, or AGA(SA) or Professional Accountant (SA) with SAIPA
