Job Description

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Rosslyn, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

The work is in Rosslyn, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day.

What you'll actually do

  • Feed raw material or empty packaging into the machine at the start of the line
  • Move full bins and crates to the next station with a trolley
  • Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
  • Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
  • Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
  • Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
  • Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run

You'll need

  • Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
  • Basic reading and counting for batch sheets
  • No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
  • Grade 10 minimum, matric an advantage
  • Available for rotating day and night shifts
  • You follow hygiene rules without being reminded

  • A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
  • NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
