Millwright (Production Plant)

Bearings, gearboxes, pumps and lathes: this beverage bottling plant in Umhlanga needs your hands on them. If you turn up on time and finish what you start, you'll fit in quickly.

The work is in Umhlanga, KwaZulu-Natal, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Shifts rotate, so you'll need to be flexible about days and nights.

• Record work and spares used on the job card or CMMS
• Respond to breakdowns and get the line running again safely
• Program and run CNC machines from engineering drawings
• Inspect and adjust conveyors, chains and sprockets
• Help with electrical fault-finding on motors and sensors as a millwright

• Trade test as Fitter and Turner, Fitter, Millwright or Toolmaker
• At least 2 years as a qualified artisan in a factory or workshop
• Own basic hand tools, or willing to build up a set
• N2 or N3 engineering subjects
• Willing to work shifts, standby and weekend shutdowns

• CNC programming experience
• Hydraulic and pneumatic courses
• Forklift licence for moving heavy parts

• Shift and standby allowances
• Paid overtime on shutdowns

• Write your trade and trade test year first, then the machines you know, like "Filling lines, pumps, gearboxes".
• If you can machine parts as well as fit them, say so clearly. Many factories want both skills in one person.
