Mine Bus Driver (Shift Transport)

You'll carry passengers safely around Pietermaritzburg for a mine shift transport service, on time and by the timetable. It's a practical job: you'll see what you got done before you go home.

This post is in Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu-Natal). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Follow speed limits strictly; buses are tracked
• Give tourists a friendly welcome and help with luggage on charters
• Handle breakdowns calmly and keep passengers safe until help arrives
• Check passenger tickets, tags or staff cards when boarding
• Inspect the bus before each trip: tyres, brakes, doors, emergency exits
• Keep the bus clean inside and report any damage
• Count passengers and make sure nobody stands beyond the limit

• Valid Code 10 or Code 14 licence
• Punctual for very early starts
• Medically fit
• Valid PrDP for passengers (P)

• Fluent in more than one language
• Experience on mine or staff transport routes
• Tour coach experience with charters

• Company uniform
• Tips and trip allowances on tour charters
• Split-shift allowance on staff transport routes
• Paid passenger PrDP renewal

• Talk about safety records in the interview. Bus companies want to hear about zero accidents and on-time runs.
• Write "PrDP P valid until" with the date, right at the top of your CV. It is the first thing a bus operator checks.
