Mine Safety Officer (Underground) – Permanent

The mining contractor on a platinum lease near Boksburg needs someone who knows the MHSA inside out and can coach crews. This role rewards consistency more than flash.

This post is Boksburg-based, with most of your time spent at a mining contractor on a platinum lease. Start is planned for the beginning of next month.

• Help run emergency drills and check refuge bays
• Keep legal appointments and code of practice records current
• Take dust, noise and heat measurements with the occupational hygiene team
• Inspect workplaces underground and on surface against the MHSA and the mine's standards
• Track safety statistics like LTIFR and report them each month
• Train safety representatives and support the health and safety committee

• Detailed knowledge of the MHSA and its regulations
• Registered with SAIOSH, or working toward it
• SAMTRAC or an MQA-accredited mine safety qualification
• Confident writing investigation reports and presenting findings

• CPD and further study funded
• Retirement fund and medical aid
• Company vehicle on site

• Give numbers: how many investigations you led, or how the LTIFR changed in your section.
• Show your mining sector safety experience clearly. Construction-only safety CVs are often moved to the no pile.
