Job Description

You'll keep servers, networks and cloud services up and secure for an university IT department in Fourways. You'll work with a small crew, so being easy to work with matters as much as skill.

The work is in Fourways, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

What your day looks like

Apply monthly patches to servers and network devices
Run and test backups, and do regular restore drills
Document network diagrams and change records
Manage users, groups and conditional access in Entra ID
Monitor servers, links and firewalls and act on alerts

You'll need

Solid TCP/IP, routing, switching and firewall knowledge
Scripting in PowerShell, Bash or Python
Degree or diploma in IT, plus relevant certifications
Willing to do standby and after-hours maintenance
At least 3 years in systems, network or cloud administration

Nice if you have

Infrastructure-as-code with Terraform or Ansible
CCNA, Fortinet NSE or MikroTik certification
