Job Description

Build the SQL, models and dashboards that run the weekly meeting at a short-term insurer in Brakpan. Bring a calm head on busy days and you'll be fine.

This post is in Brakpan (Gauteng). Please only apply if you can travel there daily. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

What you'll actually do

Build ETL pipelines in SSIS, Azure Data Factory or Python
Keep a data dictionary so everyone uses the same definitions
Write SQL to pull, join and clean data from several sources
Present findings to managers in plain language with clear charts
Meet business users to turn their questions into report requirements
Build simple forecasting and segmentation models in Python or R
Mask or remove personal information in data sets under POPIA

What you need

At least 2 years in a data or reporting role (not needed for graduate posts)
Careful with sensitive customer data
Able to explain what the numbers mean, not just show them
Degree in statistics, maths, computer science, economics or a related field
Strong SQL, including joins, window functions and CTEs

Helpful, not essential

Industry knowledge in retail, insurance or credit
Microsoft PL-300 Power BI Data Analyst certification

What you get

Paid cloud and BI certifications
Hybrid work with two office days
Latest laptop with extra screen
Annual bonus tied to company performance

Applying, step by step

Read the "What you need" list above. If you tick most of it, go ahead and apply.
Have the following on hand (clear photos on your phone are fine at first): certification transcripts plus screenshots or a link to a dashboard you built, with real data removed.
Use the form on this page. It takes about two minutes and you don't need to upload anything yet.
If you're shortlisted you'll hear from us within 9 working days, usually by phone.

Your application joins the How2Apply talent pool for this role, and we put shortlisted people forward to employers hiring in and around Brakpan.

How2Apply never charges you to apply, for training, for uniforms or for a "placement fee". If anyone asks you for money, it is a scam.

How to stand out

Build one public portfolio dashboard on a South African open data set if you have no work samples to share.
Show a before-and-after, like "replaced a 6-hour manual report with an automatic daily dashboard".
