Nursing Assistant (Rehabilitation Unit)

A home-based care agency in Kimberley needs someone kind and reliable to look after patients who can't manage alone. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

Location: Kimberley, Northern Cape. Applicants who already live in the area get looked at first. Most weeks are 45 hours, in line with the BCEA.

• Make beds, change linen and keep the rooms clean and uncluttered
• Help patients bath, dress, eat and use the toilet with dignity
• Do simple wound dressings and report anything that looks infected
• Help patients walk, transfer from bed to chair and do their exercises
• Turn bed-bound patients on schedule and check pressure areas for early sores
• Keep the fluid and food intake charts accurate for every patient
• Take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and blood glucose

• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care
• Physically strong enough to lift and move patients safely
• Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends
• Matric or NQF Level 4 equivalent
• Accredited home-based care or ancillary health care certificate for caregiver posts

• Code B or Code 8 driver's licence for home visits
• Experience in a frail care or hospice setting
• A second South African language spoken by the patients you'll serve

• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Meals provided on shift at many frail care centres
