Occupational Health Nurse (Mine Clinic) – Permanent

You'll run patient care on a busy shift at a private maternity unit in Upington, from admission to discharge. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

This post is Upington-based, with most of your time spent at a private maternity unit.

• Take handover at the bedside and plan care for your allocated patients
• Give scheduled medication, including Schedule 5 and 6 drugs, and sign the register
• Do full patient assessments and update nursing care plans every shift
• Supervise enrolled nurses and nursing assistants on your side of the ward
• Do wound care, catheter care and IV line management to unit protocol
• Admit and discharge patients and explain medication and follow-up to families
• Prepare patients for theatre and receive them back from recovery

• You can work 12-hour day or night shifts, weekends and public holidays
• At least 1 year of post-community-service ward experience
• Nursing qualification via the R425 diploma or R174 degree route
• Calm under pressure when a patient's condition turns quickly

• Dispensing licence (Section 22A(15)) for clinic posts
• IMCI and NIMART training for primary health care work

• Funded CPD points and in-house clinical training
• Study support for post-basic specialities
• Paid SANC annual fees at some groups

• List your speciality skills in plain words, such as "ventilated patients" or "normal deliveries", instead of just the ward name.
• Check your SANC receipt is for this year before you apply; an unpaid annual fee gets your application parked.
