Off-Site Video Monitoring Operator

From a chair in an armed response control room in Mthatha, you guide officers in the field to where they are needed. It suits someone who likes knowing exactly what a good day's work looks like.

You'll be based at an armed response control room in Mthatha. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps.

• Talk down intruders over on-site speakers when the system allows
• Answer alarm signals and phone clients to verify them
• Keep call-out times and client passwords up to date
• Log every event and action on the monitoring software
• Dispatch the nearest response vehicle over the radio

• No criminal convictions (vetting is done before you start)
• Computer literate and quick on a keyboard
• Matric
• PSIRA registration, Grade C or higher
• Able to stay focused through 12-hour day and night shifts

• Experience on a CCTV or alarm monitoring platform
• CCTV operator short course
• Call centre work in the past

• Shift allowance for nights
• Path to senior controller or supervisor
• Indoor, air-conditioned work environment

• Show you can stay alert at night. If you have done night shift before without problems, say so.
• Some companies give a typing and map test. Practise finding streets on a map quickly before the interview.
