Order Picker (Cold Store)

You'll keep a busy clothing distribution centre in Fourways stocked, picked and moving out on time. Someone who likes a bit of variety, but also likes doing things the right way, will enjoy this.

The work is in Fourways, Gauteng, so you'll need a reliable way to get there every day. The first two weeks are spent shadowing someone experienced.

• Count stock during weekly cycle counts and month-end stock takes
• Unpack returned parcels and sort them into resell or write-off
• Stack finished orders on pallets and stretch-wrap them tight
• Report damaged, short or expired items to the shift supervisor
• Pack cartons, add fillers and seal them with tape guns

• You're fit enough to lift boxes up to 25kg all shift
• Happy to work shifts, weekends and public holidays in peak season
• Willing to wear safety boots, a reflector vest and gloves
• Grade 10 or higher; matric preferred
• South African ID or a valid work permit
• Clean criminal record (most warehouses run a check)

• Previous picking experience with a handheld RF scanner
• Living within walking or taxi distance of the warehouse
• A valid forklift or reach truck certificate

• Permanent appointment for reliable temps after peak season
• Overtime paid at time-and-a-half on weekdays
• Staff canteen with subsidised meals
• Chance to be trained on forklift after probation

• If you have done any stock counts, packing or even shelf work before, list it first. It shows you already know how to handle stock.
• Arrive for the interview in closed shoes. Some warehouses walk you through the floor straight away.
