Packaging Line Operator (Rotating Shifts) – Entry Level

You'll keep the line running at a meat processing plant in Pietermaritzburg, feeding, checking and packing product all shift. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Pietermaritzburg. Relocation is not covered for this one. You'll start with a short induction before working on your own.

• Change over packaging film and labels when the line switches product
• Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
• Pack finished product into cases and stack them by batch number
• Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
• Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
• Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
• Stop the line with the emergency stop if anything jams or looks unsafe

• Available for rotating day and night shifts
• Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check
• No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
• You follow hygiene rules without being reminded

• Mention that you can work rotating shifts right at the top. It is the first thing most factories filter on.
• Name the products you worked on before, like "biscuit line" or "juice bottling". Factory recruiters read that faster than a job title.
