Job Description

Machines set the pace at this snack food factory in Durban Central; you keep up and catch the faults. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll be based at a snack food factory in Durban Central. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Weekend work is on a roster, so you won't be on every weekend.

What your day looks like

Hand over at shift change with notes on rejects and stoppages
Help the machine operator clear jams and reload hoppers
Wear hairnets, beard covers and gloves in food-safe zones
Clean down machines and floors at the end of each run
Follow lock-out procedures when helping with cleaning inside machines
Record batch codes and counts on the hourly production sheet
Weigh ingredients or additives against the recipe card

What you need

Available for rotating day and night shifts
Neat, reliable and on time for shift start
No problem wearing full PPE, including ear protection
Medically fit; some food plants ask for a medical check

Helpful, not essential

A food handler or basic HACCP awareness certificate
Previous work in a food or FMCG factory
NQF Level 2 manufacturing learnership completed
