Job Description

Hard outdoor work on a road rehabilitation project in Pretoria East, with a chance to learn a trade while you earn. If you learn fast and don't mind being shown things twice, you'll settle in within a few weeks.

You'll report in Pretoria East. Relocation is not covered for this one.

What you'll actually do

Carry bricks, blocks and cement bags to where the bricklayers work
Clear rubble and load it into skips
Clean tools, mixers and wheelbarrows at the end of each day
Cut and lay paving bricks along string lines
Dig trenches and foundations to the depth the foreman marks
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
Help offload deliveries of steel, timber and pipes

Must-haves

You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Grade 8 or higher
Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather

Helpful, not essential

A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket
Registered on your ward or municipal job-seeker database

What you get
