Patrol Officer (Warehouse Perimeter)

You'll control who comes in and out of a distribution warehouse in Tzaneen, and log every visitor properly. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

You'll be based at a distribution warehouse in Tzaneen. Living nearby, or on a taxi route to it, really helps. Hours are mostly Monday to Friday, with the odd Saturday in busy months.

• Call the armed response or SAPS number from the call list when needed
• Direct traffic and parking during school drop-off or big events
• Open and close boom gates for residents, deliveries and contractors
• Watch for loitering, broken fencing and open doors during night patrols
• Write every incident and shift change in the occurrence book (OB)
• Patrol the perimeter on a set route and scan checkpoint tags
• Test the panic button and radio when you come on duty

• PSIRA registration at Grade C or higher, paid up to date
• Alert, polite and firm with the public
• Clear, neat handwriting for the OB and registers
• Able to work 12-hour day and night shifts, including weekends
• Speaks and writes basic English

• Chance to be upgraded to Grade B with training
• Uniform, boots and winter jacket issued

• List the types of sites you have guarded, like estate, mall or factory. Security companies place officers by site experience.
• Make sure your PSIRA fees are paid. A lapsed registration gets your CV thrown out, even if you have years of experience.
