Job Description

You'll mix, carry, dig and clean up so the tradespeople on a townhouse construction site in Johannesburg CBD can keep building. Expect to be trusted with real work from your first week.

Home base is a townhouse construction site on the Johannesburg CBD side of Gauteng.

What your day looks like

Sign the daily safety talk register before work starts
Compact soil and layer bedding sand with a plate compactor
Clear rubble and load it into skips
Set up barriers, cones and signs around open trenches
Pass tools and materials to the plumber or electrician as needed

What you need

A clean record is preferred for some government sites
Grade 8 or higher
Able to follow instructions from a foreman or artisan
Physically strong and fit for outdoor work in all weather
Prepared to travel between sites in the area
You take safety rules seriously and wear full PPE

Nice if you have

Living near the site (many projects hire local labour)
A working-at-heights or scaffolding ticket

What you get

Overtime on weekend pours and deadline days
Boots, hard hat and overalls issued on site
Paid weekly or fortnightly
